Sisters Inside

Sisters Inside is an independent community organisation established by and for criminalised women, advocating for the human rights of, and providing support and services to women and girls in contact with the criminal legal system, as well as their children and families. Our support and service delivery responds to their priorities and needs holistically and justly, and we work alongside them to build their capacity and autonomy over their own lives. We provide a range of services for criminalised women and girls; from early intervention services; services and support during their incarceration; transition or re-entry support when nearing the end of their prison term; and support services that are available post-release.

What are we doing?

Community Anti-Violence Program - North Queensland

Our community based counsellor will support women and children at risk of incarceration, and/or exiting prison, with an approach to healing and recovery. Age-appropriate, gender-specific, culturally-competent, trauma-informed strategies will be employed to address the trauma of lived experiences of DFSV, generational trauma, and to teach women and children about healthy relationships and DFSV awareness.
